Radio One Inc. announced that Gary Gunter has been named vice president and general manager of its St. Louis radio stations. Randy Hershoff has also been named vice president and general manager of its Columbus, Ohio market.
Gunter rejoined the company as vice president and general manager of St. Louis. He is a 25-year veteran of radio sales/marketing and has received numerous awards, and he has held various positions within the company.
From 2011 to 2013, he was general sales manager in the Baltimore market, where he was responsible for maintaining and growing the company’s revenue and revenue share within the marketplace. From 2006 to 2008, he served as general sales manager for their stations in Detroit.
In 2013, Gunter left Radio One to become manager of Martz Communications Group’s stations in Pittsburgh. He was responsible for developing and growing the station’s brand, revenue and audience share by creating and implementing strategic and tactical direction. He has also held management positions at GEE Media, Clear Channel in Chicago and Cox Communications in Orlando, Fla.
Hershoff has had extensive experience leading teams in radio, digital television and print media environments, a release said. Prior to joining Radio One, he was general manager for ViaMedia (representing Verizon FIOS and Thames Valley Communications TV advertising sales) for three years. He held other management positions at The Dispatch Group in Columbus, where he was a business development manager and at Greater Media WBOS-Radio, Clear Channel Communications and Brown Broadcasting Service, WBRU Radio.
