Follow, like and listen to the swearing in of President Barack Obama on terrestrial radio and other social media platforms. Radio networks are utilizing streaming audio, Facebook, Instagram blogging and even Twitter feeds to deliver coverage of the 57th Presidential Inauguration.
CBS Radio News is conducting live anchored coverage and short-form special reports of inaugural ceremonies today as well as a wrap-up program of the ceremony from the West Front of the U.S. Capitol.
Public affairs radio network, C-Span Radio, is airing commercial-free coverage throughout the day. The radio network says it will provide “gavel-to-gavel coverage of the inaugural ceremony,” including the swearing in of President Obama and Vice President Joe Biden. C-Span Radio is available over the air in the Washington/Baltimore metro and on XM Satellite Radio.
Four hours of special broadcast coverage begins at 10 a.m. Eastern on National Public Radio. A live stream chronicling the commencement of President Obama’s second term is available online and on mobile devices.
CNN Radio, though no longer servicing over-the-air affiliates, nonetheless plans to deliver inauguration content via various online and wireless outlets. CNN’s Stitcher smart radio app for iPhones and Android phones will make available live coverage while its Soundcloud online service will provide recaps of the day’s events. CNN Radio’s Soundwaves and Tumblr radio blogs will also supply audio content.
Radio audiences worldwide will be served by Broadcasting Board of Governors journalists. Voice of America, Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty, Alhurra TV and Radio Sawa, Radio and TV Martí and Radio Free Asia will cover the day’s events through a variety of live and taped programming options.
