Radio Producer Himan Brown to Present a Live Drama at AES

Details are out about the audio drama that will be performed and recorded during the upcoming AES show.
It’s presented by Himan Brown, producer of radio programs including “Inner Sanctum,” “Dick Tracy” and “The CBS Mystery Theater.” Brown produced some 30,000 shows over 65 years; he’s a member of the Radio Hall of Fame and a recipient of The American Broadcast Pioneer and Peabody Awards.
The performance is of “Rockets Red Glare” at the Javits Center in New York on Oct. 7. It was written by Jerome Coopersmith; actors taking part include Marion Seldes, Paul Hecht, Bob Balaban and Russell Horton, who have notable stage and screen credits.
The story is based on the film “Twelve Angry Men.” The hour-long drama focuses on the real life of George Voskovec, an actor and writer who escaped from the Nazis. The performance will be recorded and made available on CD to AES members. Brown’s foundation, Radio Drama Network, is funding the performance for the AES as part of its Historical Program.
The session was coordinated by Broadcast Events Chair David Bialik.
