Radio Raises Money for Children’s Care

NRG Omaha and Radio One lay out big efforts for St. Jude’s

The May issue of the NAB’s Licensed to Serve is out.

Highlighted in the issue is Tom Becka, a host for KOIL(AM), Omaha, an NRG station, who jumped into 50-degree water in a fundraising effort for a cancer-stricken boy. Fellow NRG Omaha hosts Crash Davis, KOOO(FM) and Jenny Olive KQKQ(FM), along with local politicians, joined him.

But that wasn’t all NRG Omaha stations did. KQKQ, KOPW(FM) and KMMQ(AM) pooled their efforts for a two-day radiothon that netted $94,000 for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Radio One’s whole network joined in with a group of inspirational music stations to raise over $1.3 million for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
