According to the Radio Advertising Bureau, the combined total ad sales for October rose 13% when compared against the same month in 2001. The national sector saw a 23% gain and local revenue increased by 10% over October of last year.
October also marked the eighth straight month of radio advertising increases and the second month in a row to see double-digit gains.
The picture is also good when looked at from a year-to-date perspective, showing the combined total for the first ten months of 2002 climbing 5% over the same time period in 2001 (national showed a 10% increase and local a 4% increase).
“October’s revenue gains have positioned radio for sustained growth throughout this quarter and next,” said RAB President/CEO Gary Fries.
