Radio Sales Growth Is All National

Radio Sales Growth Is All National

The growth in radio sales is coming from the national side these days. In the month of July, national radio ad sales were “robust,” but local revenue, the bulk of the industry’s income, was flat, according to the RAB, which said national sales were up 12% over the same month a year ago.
Combined industry revenue was up 3% for the month. Gary Fries, president and CEO of the RAB, stated, “All indications point toward steady growth throughout the remainder of the year.”
Through seven months of 2003, radio’s national revenue is up 8% but local sales are only up 1%, for a total overall performance for the year so far of 3%.
