U.S. commercial radio revenue was up 2% in September compared to the same month last year, according to the Radio Advertising Bureau, which noted a 4% increase in national dollars and 1% in local revenue for the month.
“Radio also posted positive gains for the third quarter … in spite of the slow start to the quarter in July,” RAB stated. Combined local and national revenue for the quarter was up 1%.
So for the entire year, RAB’s “grand total” revenue statistic, which includes spot and non-spot dollars and national as well as local advertising, is up 1% over the same three quarters of 2004.
