Radio Sawa is beefing up its news and information programming during the war in Iraq. Radio Sawa is the U.S. government’s Arabic language station, launched last year.
One of its four program streams is targeted at Iraq. The service broadcast the president’s speech on the first night of bombing, translated into Arabic, and has reports from correspondents in Baghdad and elsewhere.
Radio Sawa is carried by multiple means to listeners in the Middle East including FM, AM, shortwave, satellite and the Internet. Listeners in the United States also can visit www.radiosawa.com.
