Radio2, EBU Memorialize End of WWI

The groups performed in an open theatre in front of the “bell of peace,” which was created from melted World War I guns and cannon.

This month, the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), Italian public-service broadcaster Radio2 and other local partners launched an effort to remind people of the 90th anniversary of the end of the “War to End All Wars.”

In addition to a two-day conference in Rovereto, Italy, Radio2 hosted a performance by Brisa Roché (France), Sunshine (Czech Republic), Dead Combo (Portugal), Irie Mafia (Hungary), King Naat Veliov & The Original Kocani Orkestar (Macedonia), Stateless (United Kingdom), Micatone (Germany), Tom Helsen (Belgium), Fatima Spar (Austria) and Carmen Consoli and Marina Rei (Italy).

Ten European public radio stations sponsored the bands’ performances. The groups performed in an open theatre in front of the “bell of peace,” which was created from melted World War I guns and cannon, and the six-hour concert was carried live on Radio2.
