Rama Hit With Another Fine in Florida

FCC upholds $25,000 penalty; the company was fined last year in a separate case

The FCC upheld an earlier decision and will fine a Florida station licensee $25,000 in a transmitter site case.

The Enforcement Bureau said the company failed to clean or repaint the WOKB(AM) antenna structures in Winter Garden, Fla., didn’t enclose a tower within an effective locked fence or enclosure, operated at times with power not specified in the license and didn’t maintain a complete public inspection file.

It said Rama did not respond to its earlier Notice of Apparent Liability.

Radio World reported in the summer of 2007 that Rama Communications was fined $20,000 in a case involving WKIQ(AM) in Eustis, Fla. Violations in that case included not having the ability to turn its transmitter off. It was also cited for failing to maintain proper studio staffing during business hours and not having a complete public inspection file on hand.
