Rdio Converts to AAC

Streams up to 320 kbps to be available

Internet audio streamer Rdio says it is has converted its entire musical catalog, “over 30 million songs,” to AAC.

It says that this conversion will move the highest quality streams available from 192 kbps to 320 kbps. But that will come at a price, literally — the 320 kbps will be available only to paying Rdio Unlimited customers.

Rdio SVP of Engineering Ron Buell said, “With a full 320 kbps catalog, Rdio now matches or exceeds the highest quality sound available for mobile streaming and downloads in the industry.”
