RDL’s Cor Riethof Passes Away

European technical director had been with the company for 17 years

Radio Design Labs has announced the death of Cor Riethof, technical director for RDL-Europe. The 72-year-old had held the RDL position since 1994.

In the announcement, RDL said: “Applying RDL modules to system designs and solutions was a natural extension of Cor’s inquisitive mind and his aptitude for exploring every possibility to discover the best solution. Colleagues have admired his constant quest for new approaches and methods to efficiently solve equipment and acoustic challenges.”

Before joining RDL, Riethof was an experienced audio acoustics and systems/facilities consultant with a number of commercial and public projects under his belt in the Netherlands and Belgium. According to RDL Riethof was a consultant for the ABN-Amro Bank headquarters, the largest audio-visual project in Europe.

He had written several technical articles and was a member of several professional organizations such as the AES, the Institute of Sound and Communications Engineers and the Organization of Dutch Consulting Engineers.

Riethof was also interested in theatre and worked as a sound designer and engineer for many plays and musicals.
