Over in the wide world of Reddit, user DonTago has created some interesting and colorful charts exploring FM radio distribution, taking a look at the frequency and the format of programming played at those frequencies.
He kindly provides the same information in slightly different formats. These provocative images can be seen here and here.
Not surprisingly, religious stations dominate the lower range (under 92 MHz) followed by public stations and other noncommercial/educational entrants. Once above that and into the commercial realm, the graphs change radically. Country music and AC are strong followed by various species of rock and others. Perhaps surprisingly, religious stations still display a strong presence through the commercial frequencies.
