‘Reference Kit’ Is to Help Commercialize iTunes Tagging

The new Ibiquity reference kit is intended for manufacturers, to aid in the production of HD Radio receivers with iPod docking stations and iTunes tagging.

The new Ibiquity reference kit (see above) is intended for manufacturers, to aid in the production of HD Radio receivers with iPod docking stations and iTunes tagging.

The kit is available to licensees of Apple Made-for-iPod (MFi) and Ibiquity.

Ibiquity‘s Jeff Jury said the kit works with the company‘s existing software development kit and includes hardware and software needed to commercialize HD Radio receivers that will have the iTunes tagging feature.

Tagging lets consumers using properly equipped HD Radio receivers “tag” songs they hear for later purchase online through iTunes. Several major station owner groups are installing the tagging technology. The first receivers from Polk and JBL are promised to go on sale during the holiday shopping season.
