NAB President and CEO David Rehr this week applauded Verizon Wireless and AT&T for adding phones that include FM receive capability to their service lineups.
Verizon Wireless added the Samsung Omnia to its offerings of supported mobile handsets. AT&T has added the LG Incite. Both include FM radio as one of their features.
In letters to both companies, Rehr said FM on cell phones “creates multiple benefits for broadcasters, mobile network providers and consumers alike.”
The actions support the goals of NAB FASTROAD — Flexible Advanced Services for Television & Radio On All Devices. The association wants to facilitate development and commercialization of new technologies that can be exploited by broadcasters using radio and television spectrum.
