Report Sees a Possible ‘Change in Fortunes’ for Country Format

Country could be turning a corner.
A report from Katz Media Group on national format averages found that “a bit of an increase” for the country format this spring after several years of declines.
The company said a number of factors may have contributed to the improvement.
“It remains to be seen whether the format can sustain this growth and reach the share heights seen in the early nineties,” it said in summarizing its report.”However, one thing is certain and that is the popularity of the country format has never waned. Country has led the way as the number one format for more than a decade and this spring enjoys a 36% advantage over the next closet competitor among Persons 12+.”
