Report: XM Canada Ends Free Internet Service

Canadian Press say XM Radio Online cut, XM Online+ still offered

XM Canada will end free online service. That’s according to Digital Home, which reports a notice on the satcaster’s website that it is cancelling the service to “better serve” its customers, although it’s not clear how, according to the account.

With XM Canada’s online service, Canadian subscribers could listen to the satellite radio channels on the Internet or on their smartphones.

XM Canada offers another streaming service, XM Online+, a streaming music service that lets subscribers listen to an XM station on the Web or on their smartphone; XM Online+ costs between roughly $3 and $8 a month U.S.

Digital Home reports that Sirius Canada still offers its Sirius Online music service at no additional charge.
