Tweeter and ABC Warehouse/Detroit are starting to carry HD Radios while Crutchfield is increasing its product offerings. In-store and online programs are launching in a total of 30 markets and more than 100 stores to meet increasing consumer demand, says Peter Ferrara, president/CEO of the HD Digital Radio Alliance.
The moves coincide with the second wave of the $200 million alliance on-air advertising campaign. This second wave of commercials, representing donated inventory from alliance station members, features ABC Warehouse, Tweeter and Crutchfield.com. Each of these retailers is running HD-R commercials.
The alliance expects these developments to end the lengthy waiting lists for receivers that consumers are experiencing in the top 30 markets.
“Clearly, these retailers have seen what we’ve seen: Consumers want HD Digital Radio programming, and smart retailers want to get ahead of the curve in providing it,” said Ferrara.
