‘Rock ‘n’ Roll Football Pushed in iAds

Absolute Radio Takes Football Campaign to iDevices

Absolute Radio is betting that lots of people received iPhones, iPads and iPod touch devices for Christmas — and are willing to sample the station’s Rock ’N’ Roll Premier League Football mobile advertising campaign on them.

The campaign is being inserted into iPhone/iPad/iPod third party apps using Apple’s new iAd platform. The campaign launched 23 December 2010, and runs until the end of April 2011.

“We hope to raise awareness of Absolute Radio’s Premier League Football offering,” said Absolute Radio Chief Operating Officer Clive Dickens. “Rock ’N’ Roll Football includes radio shows, an online match day center , apps and podcasts to keep this audience in touch with the Barclays Premier League — including exclusive live match commentaries and post-match opinion and analysis with Arsenal legend Ian Wright, respected commentator Jim Proudfoot and Russ Williams.”

In addition, the mobile campaign features the “Hotel Shoot-Out” game where the user can be a Rock star footballer trashing a room in London’s Sanctum Hotel. The more damage caused, the higher the score.

Also included is the “Rock ’N’ Roll Penalty Shoot-Out,” which offers exclusive video of Rock band Skunk Anansie scoring penalties while still playing their instruments. The campaign also includes the free “Rock ’N’ Roll Football Live Scores” iPhone app, which gives real-time access to the latest scores and live commentary.

“Absolute Radio is using Apple’s new iAd platform to target digitally-savvy football fans, as it gives unprecedented targeting, plus an emotionally engaging interactive experience as well as the advantage of geo-targeting,” said Dickens.

“Absolute Radio has digital at its very core, and our mobile Rock ’N’ Roll football campaign on the Apple iAd platform really sums up our commitment to be at the forefront of creative technology.”
