Rockefeller Interested in ‘Vehicles of the Future’

Senate Commerce Committee to look at advanced vehicle tech and its implications

West Virginia Democrat Sen. Jay Rockefeller has scheduled a hearing on advanced vehicle technology and its implications.

The chairman of the Senate Commerce Committee slated the meeting for May 15.

A committee statement says the hearing will “explore the safety benefits, potential risks, and policy implications from the development and implementation of advanced vehicle technologies.” These include advanced driver assistance systems such as adaptive cruise control and lane-keeping systems, partially and fully self-driving vehicles, vehicle-to-vehicle communication, as well as communications and entertainment devices for drivers.
