Three stations broadcasting in the Italian capital are upgrading to Axia IP-audio network technology.

The three Rome-based broadcasters — hit music station Radio Globo, talk station Radio Radio and sports station Radio Centro Suono Sport — ordered Axia Element consoles and routing equipment as the basis for the renewal of their studios.

The Rome contracts follow the deployment of Axia technology earlier this year at Funkhaus Südtirol for Radio Südtirol 1 in Bolzano, Italy.

Feel Communications, the Axia distributor in Italy, will provide integration and installation services for the projects.

"These are some of Rome's most listened-to radio stations," said Mario Baratto of Feel. "Broadcasters are discovering how much easier it is to build studios with IP-Audio — I think that more and more Axia networks will be built because of this."
