The Radio Television Digital News Association and its foundation had named Mike Cavender as executive director.
Cavender has extensive experience with the RTDNA and the foundation, having been involved for two decades as variously chairman, director, treasurer and trustee. For 25 years, Cavender held digital media jobs. He worked a number of years for CBS affiliates in Atlanta, Nashville, Tenn., Tampa, Fla. and Washington, D.C. He also was a vice president for Synaptic Digital.
RTDNA Chairman Kevin Benz said, “Mike’s passion will energize our association, reaffirming our commitment to providing best practices for the journalist and standing up for journalism in Washington, D.C.”
Cavender said of his new job, “It is a tremendous honor to lead this great organization that has for decades been so important to me and thousands of electronic journalists.”
