RTDNA Presents 2013 National Edward R. Murrow Awards

CBS Radio wins overall excellence in network radio news

The Radio Television Digital News Association presented the 2013 National Edward R. Murrow Awards at its annual awards dinner and show at the New York Marriott Marquis New York.

The award for overall excellence in network television went to Canadian network Global News, a first for the award.

CBS News led the network categories with seven wins, including three in radio and four in television. CBS also won the Overall Excellence Award in Network Radio News for the seventh consecutive year. In the local categories, WITF(FM) in Harrisburg, Pa., was the top winner with three awards. The Denver Post led among online news with three awards.

Also presented at the event were the 2013 RTDNA/Unity awards, which recognized outstanding coverage of diversity issues by six organizations in their communities: Michigan Radio, WJW(TV), ESPN Films, the Boston Globe, WFPL(FM) and StateoftheRe:Union.com. The 2013 Gannett Foundation Award for innovation in watchdog journalism recognized the work of investigative reporter Lee Zurik of WVUE(TV) in New Orleans.

A record number of entries were submitted. Judges selected winners from around the globe.
