RTNDF on Covering Bioterrorism

RTNDF on Covering Bioterrorism

We’re hoping we never need to know this but…Because journalists need immediate information in order to clearly present facts during important breaking news, the Radio and Television News Directors Foundation has issued a revised second edition of its, “A Journalist’s Guide to Covering Bioterrorism.” The updated guide features new information about detection efforts, background on different types of biological weapons, an expanded list of national and local contacts and updates on state involvement in terrorism. Also included are an explanation on what bioterrorism is, when biological weapons have been used in the past and how an attack might unfold.
“Should a bioterror attack occur, your viewers and listeners will need critical information delivered quickly, accurately and in the proper context,” said RTNDF president Barbara Cochran. “This guide will serve as one of the many tools journalists will used to deliver the news to a public in need.”
RTNDF will distribute the guide at future workshops around the country, and it is currently available online at the organization’s Web site,
