Salem Buys a Southern Gospel Music Magazine

Salem Publishing will buy The Singing News Magazine and its Internet properties, it said this week.
The buyer is a division of Salem Communications Corp. The acquisition is expected to close in January. The Singing News Magazine, it said, is known as “the printed voice of southern gospel music” and was founded in 1969. The monthly magazine says it has 200,000 readers; its content includes radio airplay charts for southern gospel.
Salem owns the Solid Gospel radio network, which broadcasts southern gospel to 100 affiliate stations, as well as the Salem Web Network. A company official stated that Salem plans to offer “a complete integration of print, radio and Internet” for artists and advertisers who want to reach the southern gospel audience.
