Religious broadcaster Salem Communications is paying $10 million to purchase WKAT(AM), Miami at 1360 kHz from Spanish Media Broadcasting. This is Salem’s first foray into the market.
WKAT is a Class B non-directional with 5 kW day and 1 kW nighttime power. The classical formatted station is licensed for IBOC operation.
Salem has been acquiring in top 50 markets and says at 60 stations in the top 25 radio markets it is the third largest group owner by station count.
