Salem Communications Corp. has signed a non-binding letter of intent with Concord Media Group Inc. to acquire four Jacksonville, Fla. stations for $9.25 million in cash. The stations are: WJGR(AM), WZNZ(AM), WZAZ(AM) and WBGB(FM).
“It is rare that we are able to buy stations in our strategic formats and we look forward to applying our expertise as the leaders in religious radio programming in the Jacksonville market,” said Salem President/CEO Edward Atsinger III.
Salem focuses on religious and family themes programming. Upon the close of all announced transactions, the company will own and operate 89 radio stations, including 55 stations in the top 25 markets. In addition to its radio properties, Salem owns the Salem Radio Network, which syndicates talk, news and music programming to about 1,600 affiliates; Salem Radio Representatives, a national sales force; Salem Web Network, and Salem Publishing.
