Sales Plummet Again; Radio Off 8% for Year

Radio sales were off 9% in May, compared to a stellar month a year earlier when radio was at the peak of the Net-driven economic boom.
The RAB says radio ad sales reflected the overall state of the national economy last month. Local dollars were down only 5%, but national business was off 22%.
Year to date, radio is off 8% from last year’s good times.
“Radio will withstand the effects of the current economic slowdown because of its localism,” stated RAB President/CEO Gary Fries. “This will keep radio solvent through the tough national economy and, when the turnaround comes, radio will be well-positioned for growth.”
