Richardson Electronics Ltd. said sales in its third quarter, which ended in February, were $118 million, an increase of 7.8% from the same period a year earlier. Sales from continuing operations, excluding its medical glassware business, which was sold in 2002, increased 11.5%.
Net earnings for the quarter were “essentially break-even,” compared to a net loss of $2.7 million, or 20 cents per share for the same quarter last year, which included a charge relating to the sale of the glassware business. The company said all four of its units experienced sales growth, with particular strength in the RF/wireless communications and display systems businesses.
