Sam Lane Dies

RF Specialties exec also had worked at RCA, Cetec, Harris

A long-time member of the industry supplier community has died. Sam Lane passed away last week at his home in California, according to an announcement by the RF Specialties Group.

Lane was owner of RF Specialties of California and co-owner of RF Specialties of Washington.

“Sam had a long and distinguished career in sales and marketing at RCA, Cetec, Harris and MagnaSync/Moviola, prior to becoming a principal member of the RF Specialties Group in 1984,” the company stated. In 1998 he partnered with Bill Newbrough in the purchase of RF Specialties of Washington Inc.

“Sam was well respected in the broadcast industry, by customers and vendors alike, for his no-nonsense approach to business. With a BS degree in electrical engineering, from the Illinois Institute of Technology, an MBA degree from California State University in Los Angeles, and the fact that he was a Registered Professional Engineer, in California, he was well qualified for the executive roles he had in his own companies, as well as being Director / Treasurer of the RF Specialties Group.”

RF Specialties of California will continue under the management of Newbrough, who is also president of RF Specialties of Washington Inc.

Lane had cancer. He is survived by his wife Sonja.
