Satellite Radio Interoperability Takes Next Step

Satellite radio companies have been working on an interoperable radio for awhile, as required by the FCC. RW reported last year that they had completed an interoperable antenna design.
At CES in January of this year, queried by RW Online about the efforts, the companies said interoperability efforts were continuing with teams from XM and Sirius working on the project.
Now, according to the blog Orbitcast.com, the satcasters have taken the next step and formed a joint venture called Interoperable Technologies in Deerfield Beach, Fla., and have posted a job description for a software engineer to work on the project.
The Web site for Interoperable Technologies says “Coming Soon.”
Neither satellite company responded to requests for comment.
