Satellite Ratings? Howard Does Well

For the first time, we can learn which are the most listened to channels, and those that are not; and we also get a glimpse of how Howard Stern is doing since leaving terrestrial radio.

In Arbitron’s first-ever report on satellite radio ratings, two things are notable.

For the first time, we can learn which are the most listened to channels, and those that are not; and we also get a glimpse of how Howard Stern is doing since leaving terrestrial radio.

According to the numbers, which experts caution are preliminary given that this is the first “book” for satellite radio, the “Howard 100” channel on Sirius was listed as the most popular channel by listeners aged 12+ during the spring book.

During an average week, 1,225,100 listeners at some point heard Stern.

That figure is far lower than the number of listeners an average top 10 station delivers in a large market.

Based on cume, the top three XM channels according to Arbitron were “Top 20 on 20,” “Flight 26” and “The 70s on 7.”

The top Sirius channels: “Howard Stern 100,” “Sirius Hits 1” and “Howard Stern 101.”
