The FCC has seven items slated for a vote at its open meeting next week including seeking further comment on rules for licensing satellite radio terrestrial repeaters in the 2320-2345 MHZ band.
The agency also plans to seek comment on facilitating the co-existence of SDARS and wireless communications services.
Media ownership items on the agenda include the chairman’s contentious plan to relax the cross-ownership ban in some circumstances, and initiatives to help minorities and women own stations. The latter was scheduled then removed from the agenda of the November meeting.
A report and Notice of Proposed Rulemaking on broadcast localism will be considered as will an NPRM seeking comment on trends in “embedded advertising” or product placement and whether the sponsor ID rules are adequate in this context.
