SBE Has New Handbook for Radio Operators

SBE Has New Handbook for Radio Operators

A new resource for training station board operators is available from the SBE, which is publishing “The Certification Handbook for Radio Operators.” The book explains standard practices and common procedures for anyone involved in the operation of a station.
“While it is designed for individuals just getting started in radio, the information is useful to anyone who pulls a shift behind the console,” SBE stated. “The book covers FCC rules, technical layout of a typical station and the general responsibilities of a radio operator. In addition, an overview of station management structure and professional etiquette is presented.”
EAS, safety, station logs and trouble procedures are included. It was written for SBE by Ron Bartlebaugh, CBNT, director of engineering at public station WKSU(FM) in Kent, Ohio. The price is $42 plus shipping; the SBE Web site says members qualify for a discount for orders placed this month. To order call (317) 846-9000. Info: www.sbe.org.
