SBE Lines Up Leadership Course

Atlanta is the site of the latest SBE Leadership Development Course

The Society of Broadcast Engineers has settled on the location and date for its next SBE Leadership Course.

Atlanta is the lucky city, and, in no doubt a devilish plan to keep students inside, has chosen Aug. 12–14 as the course dates. Atlanta in August is guaranteed to keep folks inside the building.

The SBE explains that “This intense course is designed specifically for broadcast engineers who have or aspire to have management responsibilities.” It adds, “Designed to take technically-adept people and instill in them sound leadership, supervisory and management skills, the SBE Leadership Development Course is equally beneficial for those who are already in management and for those without prior management or supervisory experience.”

Topics include dynamics of leadership, behavioral style, effective motivation techniques, team-building, responsible management practices, managing conflict and more.

The instructor will be Rodney Vandeveer, a professor of Organizational Leadership and Supervision at Purdue.

The three-day course is scheduled for the Hyatt Place Atlanta Airport South in College Park, Ga. Completion of the course qualifies for three credits toward recertification under Category G.
