SBS to Air World Cup Matches

Spanish-language coverage for most plus more

The Spanish Broadcasting System has announced that it will carry the majority of 2014 FIFA World Cup matches in Spanish for the U.S. market on its stations.

In addition to the 50 of 64 scheduled matches, it will provide news, specials and pre-and post-match analysis. SBS will also provide content on its various company websites such as LaMusica.com, station websites and in social media.

SBS will make use of legendary announcer Andrés Cantor (“Goooooooaaaaaalllllll!”) for several broadcasts.

SBS COO Albert Rodriguez said, “We couldn’t be more thrilled about our World Cup coverage and the incredible access it will provide to millions of soccer fanatics in the U.S., allowing them to not only listen every game live on any platform they choose but also get a first-hand, behind-the-scenes look inside the lively atmosphere and excitement unfolding in one of the world’s most soccer-loving countries.”

SBS owns and operates 20 radio stations in the United States in major markets.
