Spanish Broadcast System stations in Miami will hold a 12-hour radiothon fundraiser Friday to help the victims of Tuesday’s earthquake in Haiti.
The fundraiser will be held at the Bird Bowling and Entertainment Center at 92 Avenue and Bird Road; the broadcaster is urging listeners to donate funds and bring donations of water, canned food and basic necessities for children and adults.
Its Mega TV outlet will promote the radiothon and join in the event. Proceeds will be donated to the Catholic Church of Notre Dame D’Haïti.
“With initial figures estimating thousands of victims and reports of a devastated population filled with pain, need and despair, SBS radio and Mega TV are calling on the local the community and their loyal base of listeners and viewers to support its effort and help those impacted by the earthquake,” it stated.
