South Carolina broadcaster Our Three Sons Media Group wants to replace its existing 110-foot tower, located on North Confederate Ave. in downtown Rock Hill, S.C. The company plans to build a 199-foot tower with permission from local authorities, according to a report in the Rock Hill Herald.
OTS Media Group owns and operates WRHI(AM/FM), as well as three other radio stations, in addition to a planned fifth station that will go on the air after the new tower has been built. The downtown tower is used to transmit the stations to four other towers.
Rock Hill officials must approve rezoning orders before the plans can be finalized, and the rezoning will ultimately be decided by the city council. City ordinances allow freestanding communication towers in 11 business zones and one rural residential zone, but a special exception for a tower is still required.
