The Southern California Broadcasters Association has created a scholarship award in honor of George Nicholaw, former VP and GM of KNX Newsradio, to be presented annually to students from a Southern California college interested in a broadcast career.
Nicholaw is known for pioneering the Newsradio format on KNX, and holds the record as the longest-tenured manager of an all-news U.S. radio station at 37 years. He received an SCBA Lifetime Achievement Award in 1997 for contributions to broadcasting and community service in Southern California.
