Event is aimed at young women starting a career in radio sales management

Scholarship applications for attending the 2009 Women in Radio Management & Leadership Training Seminar, August 25 & 26 at the RAB Radio Training Academy in Dallas, are available.

A partnership of the Radio Advertising Bureau, BMI and the Mentoring Women in Radio Group (MIW), the Rising Through the Ranks seminar is aimed at young women starting or looking for a career in radio sales management.

Speaking will be Erica Farber, former publisher of Radio & Records and the first winner of the RAB/MIW Trailblazer Award.

Mike O’Neill, BMI senior VP said: “We saw tremendous success with this program during its first year, and we are pleased to increase the number of scholarships available to women in radio management.”

Heidi Raphael, VP of corporate communication at Greater Media and a spokeswoman for MIW, said: “As we continue our efforts to create opportunities, educate and support the careers of women in radio, Rising Through the Ranks and similar programs remain essential to the advancement of women in management roles.”

The scholarships are designed to defray the cost of the seminar. A total of 25 are available. Information can be found here and applications must be submitted before July 18.
