Scholarships Recognize Young Connecticut Broadcasters

The Connecticut Broadcasters Association presented $38,000 in college scholarship funding this year to young broadcasting professionals from the state.
The 2006 recipients are Katelyn Halvorsen of Manchester, who will be a sophomore at Quinnipiac University, majoring in media studies; Michael MacLauchlan of Somers, entering Quinnipiac University as a freshman with a major in broadcast communications; Scott McGowan of Higganum, a senior at Emerson College, majoring in broadcast journalism; Zackery Mordente of West Haven, entering Johnson & Wales University as a freshman, with a major in electronics engineering; Leroy Moton of Hartford, who will be entering the University of Connecticut as a freshman with a major in broadcast journalism; and Caitlin Well of Woodbury, a junior at Syracuse University, majoring in TV/film/radio.
Mark Laslo of Newtown is recipient of the new Paul K. Taff Scholarship Award. He will enter Bryant College as a freshman in broadcast communications, and will receive a $10,000 in grants over four years.
