Senate Commerce Prepares for LPFM Vote

The Senate Commerce Committee plans to include Chairman John McCain’s bill to create more LPFMs when its members vote on several bills Tuesday.
The measure, if passed by the full Congress in what’s left of this legislative session, would direct the FCC to drop third-adjacent-channel protection requirements between LPFMs and existing FMs, FM translators and boosters.
Noncom FMs that carry radio reading services on their subcarriers would be exempt from the change in channel protections.
