Sharjah Media Corp., a TV and radio broadcaster in the United Arab Emirates, has ordered an archive extension for its existing SCISYS Deutschland GmbH dira! radio system, which went on the air in summer 2011. SCISYS subsumed its VCS division that marketed the dira! systems.
The extended audio archive will be completely integrated into the dira! workflow. The company says it will facilitate services such as “on demand-audio,” available through Web platforms.
The system will include 72 TB storage in redundant configuration for more than 40,000 hours of audio, along with two archive-production workstations that will integrate into the radio production environment.
“The experience with our recent dira! installation has been very good,” said Khalid Al Midfa, director of Sharjah Radio and TV. “We are therefore very confident that the important archive extension will be a success and will be delivered on time and to budget.”
