Shinn Joins Clarke Broadcasting

Takes CE job in Sonora, Calif.

Paul Shinn left Entravision Communications to take a chief engineer post in Sonora, Calif. He’ll be chief of KVML(AM), KKBN(FM) and KZSQ(FM), owned by Clarke Broadcasting. Shinn had been with Entravision for 13 years; he was chief of its Stockton and Modesto markets.

“Clarke Broadcasting does radio the right way,” Shinn wrote in an email to Radio World. “They have a local news staff that serves the Motherlode area with micro-management focus on local issues (the recent Rim Fire coverage was one of radio’s finest moments). They broadcast high school football, local weather and local events. By being so focused on the community, they are also very profitable and well respected.”

Shinn had been with Entravision for 13 years; he was chief of its Stockton and Modesto markets. “It’s a great company and this was a very difficult decision that took many months of deliberation.” He told RW he will most miss working with Rick Hunt, Entravision’s VP and director of radio engineering.
