AES Heads to Finland

Neural DSP CEO Douglas Castro Will Keynote

Douglas Castro of Neural DSP will deliver the keynote address at AES Europe 2023.

The AES Europe Convention is making its first appearance in Finland. The event will be held May 13–15 at the Dipoli Conference Centre at Aalto University in Espoo, part of the Greater Helsinki Capital Region. 2023 marks the 154th International Audio Engineering Society Convention and 75th anniversary of the society.

The event will be held fully in-person for 2023; no virtual events or sessions are currently planned.

Keynote speaker for the convention will be Douglas Castro, CEO and founder of Helsinki-based Neural DSP Technologies. Neural DSP is known for its digital effects and associated hardware used to emulate real guitar and bass amplifiers through advanced signal processing and artificial intelligence technologies. Castro is also founder of Darkglass Electronics (acquired by Korg in 2022), which manufactures distortion pedals, amplifiers and cabinets for heavy rock bassists.

Finland-based monitor manufacturer Genelec, an AES Sustaining Member, is the official sponsor of the 2023 AES Europe Convention.

Social events planned for the conference include an archipelago sightseeing cruise and an AES Student Party.

An early registration discount is available through Mar. 20, 2023. Paper and session proposals are being accepted through Feb. 17, 2023.
