Going forward, Greater Public and PBS have announced that both organizations will collaborate for Public Media Development and Marketing Conferences, described as “the largest annual gathering in public media aimed at revenue generation, marketing and leadership across all of public media’s platforms.”
The 2018 PMDMC is already in the works and is scheduled for July 11–13 in Chicago.
“Finding ways to more deeply connect our work for the benefit of our entire system is essential to public media’s continued success,” Greater Public President and CEO Joyce MacDonald and PBS Development Services Senior Vice President Betsy Gerdeman wrote in the release.
PBS did not participate in the 2017 conference, which was held July 2017 in San Francisco, but had collaborated on the conference from 2012 through 2016.
The release said the organizations “believe that a co-presented conference will best provide the leadership and empowerment that all of the nation’s public media organizations need in order to grow and thrive in service of their communities.”
Greater Public has offered a development and marketing conference for over 30 years, while PBS separately held an annual development conference for its member stations that included television-only and joint licensees. However, PBS DevCon was discontinued in 2010.
