Henry Engineering – Hank Landsberg

Our products solve problems of equipment interface and control: audio signal interface, distribution, mixing, switching, and conversion. We provide unique solutions to problems often encountered by a typical broadcast engineer or pro audio user or installer.

Q. What kind of products or services does your company offer for professional audio buyers/users – especially those who might be attending the NAB show?

A. We build products that solve problems, hence our slogan: “We Build Solutions”. Our products solve problems of equipment interface and control: audio signal interface, distribution, mixing, switching, and conversion. We provide unique solutions to problems often encountered by a typical broadcast engineer or pro audio user or installer.

Q. What’s new that you will show at NAB2007?

A. Two New products: “USB-AES Matchbox,”, an interface unit that converts between USB (on a PC) to AES/EBU digital audio I/O. Also “MultiPhones II,”, a new version of the MultiPhones Headphone Distribution System.

Q. How is your new product offering different from what’s available on the market?

A. USB-AES Matchbox is the only device (that we know of) that provides both AES/EBU digital audio Inputs inputs and Outputs outputs (on XLRs) in addition to professional-standard analog outputs, also on XLRs. It is used instead of a computer “sound card” and eliminates the interface headaches (hum, noise, wrong levels) caused by inexpensive sound cards. MultiPhones II is the only headphone distribution system that offers multizoned Talkback, with the ability to have more than one headphone listening station connected to each zone. Up to 12 Guest Pods can be used, divided among the three Talkback zones as the user requires. Only one CAT-5 wire per zone is needed…, so installation is very quick and easy.

Q. Has this been a good year for your company (since last year’s show)?

A. Yes!

Q. What is the biggest issue concerning your industry?

A. Conversion to digital technology…, and whether or not HD (FM) radio will actually perform as well as the current analog system in the real world.

Q. Where are you based and how many employees do you have? Anything else we should know about your company?

A. We are based in Sierra Madre, Calif., near Los Angeles. We employ about six employees; and 2007 is our 25th anniversary!
