Registration Opens for 2025 Public Radio Engineering Conference

Early bird pricing and scholarships are now available

Registration and a call for proposals is now open for the 2025 Public Radio Engineering Conference. The conference is held April 3–4 in Las Vegas, just ahead of the NAB Show. It marks an opportunity to learn from peers in the field and to honor engineers who have made lasting contributions to public broadcasting.

The Association of Public Radio Engineers hosts the event, which takes place at the Tuscany Suites Hotel. Full virtual attendance is available with the ability to interact with presenters. Early bird registration is open through Jan. 1, which includes all presentations, meals and the “Night Owl” session. Registrants also receive access to special hotel rates and benefits.

PREC encourages engineers of all experience levels to attend the conference. The program includes two days of presentations on topics relevant to public broadcasting. In a press release, PREC notes that its “hallway track” will be particularly valuable to attendees, offering networking opportunities with other public media engineers.

Past topics presented include FCC compliance, metadata and RDS trends, broadcast tower management and HD signal alignment. Representatives from NPR and the Public Radio Satellite System will also provide updates. Those interested in presenting are encouraged to submit proposals by Jan. 5.

Tickets are also available for APRE’s Engineering Achievement Awards Dinner on April 4 at Lawry’s The Prime Rib in Las Vegas, where the 2025 Engineering Achievement Award winner will be announced. Last year’s honoree was Michael Beach, former vice president of distribution at NPR.

APRE will also award scholarships to support conference attendance. Two winners will receive full registration, a ticket to the awards dinner and three nights at the hotel. Five additional winners will receive access to the virtual presentations. These scholarships are part of what APRE says reflects its mission to advance the art, science and performance of public radio engineers.

Visit www.apre.us for details on how to register for the conference, submit a proposal for presentation and apply for a PREC 2025 scholarship.
