BE’s IXplus Is for HD Radio Applications

It combines exporter and importer functions into one software platform

A piece of technical equipment, one rack unit hightBroadcast Electronics has introduced an HD Radio product called IXplus.

“BE has combined exporter and importer functions into a single software platform operating on an enterprise-class 1 RU server that allows the user configuration to best match their station architecture, programming and technical requirements,” it said.

The BE IXplus is scalable ranging from a full software solution to a distributed component approach. It is user-configurable to operate as a combined importer and exporter or as a standalone importer or standalone exporter.

“IXplus connects, manages and multiplexes all HD Radio Advanced Applications Services in a simple-to-use consolidated interface, including HD2, HD3, HD4 supplemental audio channels into the HD Radio data payload that is combined with the HD1 main program services and sent to the Exgen interface in the HD Radio enabled FM exciter for broadcast.”

BE said the product helps support revenue streams with additional data services and multiple audio programs. “Coupled with BE’s TREplus cloud-based metadata management tools, broadcasters can streamline HD Radio PAD (program-associated data), album art, station logos news, traffic, weather and other text and visual content to engage listeners and create new revenue streams.”

The IXplus integrates with software-based audio processing options such as BreakawayOne, and it can be paired with the BE AudioVault 11 platform to launch channels and popup formats using a “pay-as-you-go” plan.
