Orban Highlights New High-End Processor at NAB

Optimod 5950 is due to ship in June

Orban will begin shipping its new generation of audio processors in June, with the Optimod 5950 first off the assembly line.

“It has a compact 1 RU design and offers a powerful package of features including Orban’s breakthrough MX Peak Limiter technology,” the company says.

“Equipped with a high-resolution touch display and the ability to be controlled remotely via any HTML5 web browser, the Optimod 5950 combines user-friendly operation with the highest quality audio processing for FM and DAB+/HD Radio broadcasts.”

Analog, AES3, composite and digital MPX as well as AES67/SMPTE-ST2110 inputs and outputs allow easy integration into any studio/transmitter environment. The optional Orban µMPX interface can be used for a cost-effective transmission of digital MPX signals over IP.

Audio processing features such as the Subharmonic Synthesizer for a punchy bass and Multipath Mitigator for stereo-to-mono downmix are included in the 5950. Its RDS/RBDS generator supports dynamic PS scrolling and IP access.

Monitored dual power supplies and defeatable I/O safety bypass relays provide assurance of reliable operation.

Orban will have the Optimod 5950 at the NAB Show, booth W2543.
